Introduction

HYRO Energy Limited was founded to support industrial businesses in their decarbonisation efforts for processes that are hard to electrify, by creating clean, green hydrogen that is not only home-grown, but also reliable and affordable.

Green hydrogen solutions make the most of local renewable sources of energy when it’s sunny and windy, in turn helping to reduce emissions and boost energy security.

The consented Northfleet Green Hydrogen Electrolyser (GHE) production and storage facility is located on land at Kimberly-Clark’s Northfleet paper mill manufacturing facility in Gravesend, Kent and will support Kimberly Clark in their efforts to cut emissions at scale.

The manufacturing facility will use a new dual-fuelled boiler, which will be able to run on hydrogen and natural gas as a upback-up, temporarily. This will help to decarbonise the paper-making process for much-loved household brands like Andrex®.
